Foster Grandparents serve in school systems working with at- risk children. The children range from head start to high school. The requirements to become a Foster Grand Parent are:
· Be 55 years or older
· Be retired or not active in regular workforce
· Be able to serve at least 20 hours a week
· Be income eligible

The Foster Grandparent Program celeberated 45 years of service in 2010. The program was started in 1965, to provide loving and experienced assistance to children and youth with special needs. According to the Corporation for National and Community Service, each year 31, 000 Foster Grandparents across the United States, donate 30 million hours of service to help more than 260,000 children and youth. These Foster Grandparents provide assistance in schools, prisons, child care centers, and drug treatment centers. Congratulations on 45 years FGP!
